STOKES
Modeling Radiative Transfer and Polarization

Two pre-computed dust models being relevant for astrophysical applications are provided here. They represent dust compositions reproducing extinction curves in our Galaxy and in Active Galactic Nuclei (see Gaskell et al., 2004). For further information have a look at  the model examples for STOKES and at their description in the manual.

MilkyWay.dst:

  • Graphite: 62.5%
  • “Astronomical silicate”: 37.5%
  • Minimum grain radius: 0.005 mm
  • Maximum grain radius: 0.250 mm
  • Grain size distribution: n(a) ~ a-3.5

AGN.dst:

  • Graphite: 85%
  • “Astronomical silicate”: 15%
  • Minimum grain radius: 0.005 mm
  • Maximum grain radius: 0.200 mm
  • Grain size distribution  n(a) ~ a-2.05

The grain size distribution refers to a number density n depending on the grain radius a.
